Partnership Profile Arbo's Cheese Dip

Memphis, TN

Watch to learn how Pinnacle helped this U.S. Army veteran grow his business into grocery stores nationwide.

When Andrew Arbogast was deployed to Afghanistan with the U.S. Army, his team found fellowship in food—especially his dad’s special cheese dip, shipped from back home.

“We would break bread before mission,” Arbogast said. “It was just a small thing that I could see raised the spirits of the guys.”

It was so good that his friends told him he should package and sell it. Starting in his kitchen and selling from his doorstep, Arbogast soon found his dip on shelves in hundreds of stores in dozens of states and then thousands of stores across the country.

That rate of growth comes with complications, though.

“One thing you don’t want to do is miss an order because you don’t have the materials on hand,” he said. “I’m just filling orders. I’m not checking in. I’m not doing the necessary advertising and marketing and demos that are required for a new product to be on the shelf. And just as quickly as you get on the shelf, you can get discontinued.”

He needed capital to scale for his newfound success and a banking partner who understood his situation.

“Right off the bat I noticed the difference from where we were banking previous,” he said. “I was able to remove the financial expertise from my desk and allow you all to help mentor me through all this.

“Pinnacle didn’t lose confidence and hope in me. With our constant communication, Chad, I think you realized, ‘We see what’s going on. We see the challenges. We’re going to increase your LOC to help get you through.’ I was able to sleep at night.”
