How to Enroll in eStatements – and Why It’s a Smart Decision

Digital is the new normal. Utility bills, paychecks and even government business like taxes and renewing your car tags have moved online. For much of your business, paper is becoming the exception rather than the standard practice.

Your bank statements should be part of that move, too. eStatements have been around for many years but have become increasingly popular lately. If you’re working away from the office, you can access them at home or while traveling—anywhere you have an Internet connection.

Why should you join the paperless world and move your bank business to eStatements?

It’s easier and more convenient.
Instead of making you wait on the mail, eStatements are available right away to view online. Recent statements are always available through online banking, and if you like to keep them on file, you can download them to keep on your computer, too. That beats filing away a thick packet of paper in a drawer.

It can save you money.
Many banks, including Pinnacle, waive service charges when you have direct deposit, eStatements and/or other qualifying factors. As an example, take a look at how eStatements can help waive service charges on Pinnacle’s personal checking accounts.

Mailed statements can leave a paper trail of sensitive financial information. With eStatements, you can access them only through your secure online banking login. This helps protect them from prying eyes.

It’s better for the environment.
Even with recycling, paper is a costly resource.  Despite years and years of trying, we just don’t have a better way to make it than by cutting down trees. It takes about 24 trees to make a ton of paper, and some estimates show that more than 40 percent of the world’s wood harvest goes to paper. Paper production also has harmful effects on water and air quality. One person switching to eStatements may not make a huge impact, but millions of them together can.

How can you enroll in eStatements?
First, make sure you’re enrolled in Online Banking. If you need information about that, click below.
