Pinnacle is One of the Country's Best Workplaces for Millennials in 2019
FORTUNE ranks Pinnacle at No. 12 nationwide
Pinnacle Financial Partners is among the top companies in the country for millennials. The firm earned the No. 12 spot on the list of Best Workplaces for Millennials from FORTUNE magazine and Great Place to Work®, rising from No. 24 on the same list in 2018. In February, both groups named Pinnacle the overall No. 27 Best Company to Work For in the United States.
“We hire based on experience, and millennials have racked up a lot of it,” said Terry Turner, Pinnacle’s president and CEO. “Now that their generation is approaching middle age, they’ve had time to see what they like and don’t like about the workplace. Most companies will try gimmicks like free snacks or open floorplans and cafes in the office. But millennials just want the same things from their jobs as everyone else: security, flexibility, respect and the freedom to do what they love best. That’s precisely what we offer at Pinnacle, and I believe that’s why the next generation of great banking leaders want to come here.”
Rankings for this list are based on feedback representing more than 4.5 million employees at companies across the country. They were surveyed on more than 60 elements of their experiences on the job, including the extent to which they trust leaders, fairness in workplace decisions and feelings of camaraderie among the team. The list is designed to spotlight companies that best include all employees, no matter who they are or what they do for the organization.
Companies on the list of Best Workplaces for Millennials stand out for their unique, innovative cultures, which helps them attract and retain associates. Even with a hiring philosophy that seeks out seasoned professionals with at least 10 years of experience for most roles, more than a quarter of Pinnacle’s associates are 40 years old or under. With an average retention rate above 91 percent – unheard of in the financial services industry – they are more likely to stay and build their careers at Pinnacle.
“Millennials today face a unique set of challenges both in and out of the workplace ranging from cumbersome student loans to a lack of trust in their management,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “The Best Workplaces on this list have created a greater sense of fairness, collaboration and professional development for millennials. These positive experiences empower them to bring their full potential to the workplace and the world.”
The Best Workplaces for Millennials is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations. Pinnacle regularly ranks on several of them, and earlier this year was named the No. 2 Best Workplace in Financial Services and Insurance. In 2018, the firm earned honors for being a Best Workplace for Parents (No. 40) and Women (No. 12).
Pinnacle Financial Partners provides a full range of banking, investment, trust, mortgage and insurance products and services designed for businesses and their owners and individuals interested in a comprehensive relationship with their financial institution. The firm is the No. 1 bank in the Nashville-Murfreesboro-Franklin MSA, according to 2018 deposit data from the FDIC. Pinnacle earned a spot on FORTUNE’s 2019 list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For® in the U.S., its third consecutive appearance. American Banker recognized Pinnacle as one of America’s Best Banks to Work For six years in a row.
The firm began operations in a single location in downtown Nashville, TN in October 2000 and has since grown to approximately $25.6 billion in assets as of March 31, 2019. As the second-largest bank holding company headquartered in Tennessee, Pinnacle operates in 11 primarily urban markets in Tennessee, the Carolinas and Virginia.
