Pinnacle Financial Partners recently joined the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation (SHCPF) in Memphis and is helping to protect seniors by funding the Senior Crimestoppers program for residents of a local senior housing complex.

The SHCPF provides safe and secure living environments for senior living community residents, many of whom are low- and moderate-income individuals, through the operation of Senior Crimestoppers.

Pinnacle’s investment of $800,000 will allow Luther Terrace, located at 3907 James Road in Memphis, to administer the program to its residents. Senior Crimestoppers has reduced all aspects of crime in participating facilities by 94 percent.

“Our residents’ safety has always been our top priority, and Senior Crimestoppers will be a wonderful complement to our existing efforts,” Luther Terrace Manager Michaela Gray said. “We certainly appreciate the investment Pinnacle has made to prevent crime against the elderly in our community.”

The program provides residents with personal lockboxes; an anonymous tip line for reporting incidents of abuse, neglect, fraud, theft and vandalism; and effective, ongoing education and training for staff members and residents. Tipsters who help solve or prevent incidents receive a cash reward.

“Making a difference in the communities we serve is important to Pinnacle, and that includes ensuring that local seniors have a safe and secure living environment,” said Lisa Foley, Pinnacle’s area manager for client services in Memphis. “Luther Terrace is fortunate that its incidents have been few and far between. We are pleased to provide the resources to help deter incidents before they happen.”

SHCPF provides a vehicle for banks to earn Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) consideration. This program allows banks to serve an underserved segment of society, senior housing residents, who have been classified as a low- to moderate-income group.
